The Inglewood Poetry Project(TIPP) is a public art project and community art effort conceived, performed and realized by poet J. Malaika Beckford. The Poetry Project began with a series of free poetry writing workshops led by Beckford to expose the public to diverse forms of poetry and inspire poetry about her City. She held workshops in Inglewood's parks, churches and schools to introduce writers to free verse, haiku, list poems and rhyming couplets. Over 30 writers, ages 8 to 73 participated and their selected poems were edited and sequenced by Beckford into a hard cover anthology available in the Inglewood Public Library. Copies were provided to the 17 public schools in the Inglewood Unified School District to provide students a positive and poetic representation of their City.

Beckford also produced a vinyl album of her original spoken word performances in an edition of 100. A highlight of the album is Beckford's infectious call and response work, 'Ingle, Inglewood, where life is good.' TIPP debuted at Waddingham Lecture Hall on Saturday January 10, 2015 with emcee MC Sean B. of Poetree Brand LL and Inglewood poets Donald Bakeer, Joshua Apparicio, Hiram Sims, DJ Watson and Doris K. Reed. Ms. Beckford's own performance was accompanied by live musicians. Using freestyle hip hop and poetry, J. Malaika examines the modernity of the first world and the traditional ideals of the third world from a proud Inglewood perspective.
