The Marvin Engineering Co, a manufacturer of mechanical assemblies, built their three story headquarters in Inglewood in 2005. Nadel Architects designed The Marvin Group’s 135,000 square foot headquarters building as the hub in a larger campus. With a $15 million construction budget they incorporated company research and development laboratories, high-tech manufacturing, corporate offices, teleconferencing, and subterranean parking onto one site.
Nadel’s design reflects the Marvin Group’s varied businesses, showcasing the intersection of machine and design. Industrial exterior finishes including site-cast concrete in diverse textures, and three types of custom corrugated metal siding reinforce the concept of industrial manufacture and assembly.
Inglewood is a natural location for these industries, as it is central to the regional defense and aerospace industrial corridor, including Los Angeles, El Segundo and Torrance.
