The work of San Francisco-based Andrea Cochran Landscape Architecture is distinguished by its focus on the craft of building, its careful attention to site conditions, and its guiding environmental ethic. The fifteen-person studio is known for its integration of landscape, art and architecture. In the work, a controlled palette of materials and vibrant plant life are composed with geometric clarity, creating a heightened sense of texture, light, and movement. The firm tackles a wide range of project types and scales, from single family residences to hotels, wineries, affordable housing, schools, institutions, and public parks. A sense of intimacy and a strong attention to detail infuse each project. The firm’s designs have garnered numerous awards, including seven Honor Awards and an Award of Excellence from the American Society of Landscape Architects.
Andrea Cochran, FASLA, has been practicing landscape architecture in the San Francisco Bay Area for thirty years. The firm’s diverse portfolio of work is internationally recognized and has been featured in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and a wide range of design publications. In 2007, Ms. Cochran was inducted as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. She was named a finalist for the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards in Landscape Architecture in 2006, 2009, and 2010.
