Frances Halsband, FAIA, a founding partner of Kliment Halsband Architects, has been the lead designer for numerous award-winning projects for educational, cultural, civic, and government clients. She brings her unique perspective as a designer, a member of the academic community, and advisor for educational and government review boards to every project. She has served as Dean of the School of Architecture at the Pratt Institute in New York, has been visiting distinguished professor of design at many universities, including the University of California at Berkeley, University of Maryland, and University of Pennsylvania, and has taught joint studios with Robert Kliment. She has served as an architectural advisor to Brown University, Harvard University, and Smith College. She is a member of the Architectural Review Board of the Federal Reserve Bank, on Advisory Board of the U.S. Department of State Foreign Buildings Operations, and a former Commissioner of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. Frances was the first woman to be elected president of the New York Chapter of the AIA, has served as president of the Architectural League of New York, and is a frequent participant on many AIA committees, panels, and design awards juries. In addition to contributing several articles to The Chronicle of Higher Education, she has been an advisory board member for Crit-Journal of the AIAS and Praxis Journal, as well as editorial board member for Interiors magazine, and the publisher of the Design History Foundation journal, Places. Frances Halsband received a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University.

Michael J. Crosbie, Ph.D., FAIA, has made significant contributions in the fields of architectural journalism, research, teaching, and practice. He has served as an editor at Architecture: The AIA Journal, Progressive Architecture, ArchitectureWeek.com, and is editor-in-chief of Faith & Form, a quarterly journal on religious art and architecture. He is also a frequent contributor to Architectural Record and writes about architecture and design for the Hartford Courant. He has also appeared as an architectural expert on The History Channel. He is the author of more than 20 books on architecture (including five books for children) and has edited and contributed to more than 20 others.
Crosbie is Associate Dean of the University of Hartford's College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture, and Chairman of the Department of Architecture. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University and Catholic University. He has lectured and served as a visiting critic at architecture schools in North America and abroad, including the University of California (Berkeley), the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, and the Moscow Architectural Institute. Crosbie is a registered architect in the State of Connecticut, has practiced with Centerbrook Architects & Planners and Steven Winter Associates, and is a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects.
Eben Klemm, Bartender & Author
A former research biologist, of special interest to him is encouraging knowledge among bartenders concerning the basic chemical and physics principals that affect the materials they use in order to better understand the techniques they use.
Klemm and his cocktails have been featured in such diverse local and national publications as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Food and Wine, Time Out New York, Popular Science, and Playboy. He has also made televised appearances include The Today Show, CBS’s Early Show and ABC 20/20. His cocktail book for beginners, The Cocktail Primer, was published in December by Andrews McNeel.

- 2 ounces Woodford Reserve Bourbon
- 1/2 oz lemon juice
- Dash orange bitters
- 1/4 oz maple syrup
- sprig mint
In a rocks glass mildly crush a mint spring. Stir the remaining ingredients into an ice filled shaker. Strain into rocks glass and fill with large ice cube.
