Shohei Shigematsu, OMA New York Architects Shohei Shigematsu is a Partner at OMA and Director of the New York office. Since joining the firm in 1998, he has been a driving force behind many of OMA’s projects, leading the firm’s diverse portfolio in the Americas for the past decade. With an emphasis on maximum specificity and process-oriented design, Shigematsu provides design leadership and direction across the company for projects from their conceptual onset to completed construction. Shigematsu’s designs for cultural venues include the Pierre Lassonde Pavilion, a new museum for Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec; the Faena Forum, a multi-purpose venue in Miami Beach; an extension to the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo; and an event space for the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles. He has collaborated with multiple artists, including Cai Guo-Qiang, Marina Abramović, Kanye West and Taryn Simon. Shigematsu also designed the world-traveling Prada exhibition, Waist Down; the Costume Institute’s Spring 2016 exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology; and the forthcoming exhibition for the Park Avenue Armory. Shigematsu has designed innovative workspaces including Milstein Hall - an extension to the College of Architecture, Art and Planning at Cornell University (2011), the China Central Television Headquarters in Beijing (2012), the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Headquarters (2013), and is currently designing OMA’s first tower in Tokyo for Mori Building (2022). Three of his designs for luxury residential towers in New York, San Francisco, and Miami are currently in construction. His urban and public space designs around the world include a new civic center in Bogota, Colombia; a post-Hurricane Sandy, urban water strategy for New Jersey; a food hub in Louisville, Kentucky; and a mixed use development in Los Angeles. Shigematsu speaks regularly on the research and ideas that shape his work. His recent lectures include conferences hosted by TED, Wired Japan and universities throughout the world. He is a design critic at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he is conducting a research studio entitled Alimentary Design, investigating the intersection of food, architecture and urbanism. Shigematsu graduated in 1995 from the Department of Architecture at Kyushu University, Fukuoka. Amanda Dameron Dwell Amanda Dameron who joined Dwell in 2008, has covered design and architecture for the last fifteen years, serving as an on-staff editor at Architectural Digest and Western Interiors and Design in Los Angeles. Her work has been published in numerous domestic and international titles, from Condé Nast Traveler, Los Angeles Magazine, Urbis, Vogue Living and Elle Décor UK. As Editor-in-Chief of Dwell and Executive Vice President of Content, she directs content across all the company's platforms, extending from print and digital to live events, e-commerce, research and other ancillary products. She has served on numerous design and architecture juries, including the AIA East Bay, ICFF in New York and the ASME National Magazine Awards. In addition to her role at Dwell, Dameron was hand-selected by Ellen DeGeneres to serve as a lead judge for every episode of Ellen’s Design Challenge—a furniture design competition series—which debuted on HGTV in 2015. She has also appeared as a design expert on PBS, Fox Business, ABC News, and the Nate Berkus Show. In 2014 the Huffington Post called Dameron "one of the most influential voices in the world of modern design." Eben Klemm, Bartender & Author Eben Klemm, a former research biologist, is especially interested in encouraging knowledge among bartenders concerning the basic chemical and physics principals that affect the materials they use in order to better understand the techniques they use. Klemm and his cocktails have been featured in such diverse local and national publications as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Food and Wine, Time Out New York, Popular Science, and Playboy. He has also made televised appearances include The Today Show, CBS’s Early Show and ABC 20/20. His cocktail book for beginners, The Cocktail Primer, was published in December by Andrews McNeel.
