Description
A five-story neo-Classical building of Connecticut pink granite and tan brick, South Station was completed in 1898 with three purposes: as a single (‘union’) terminus for passengers of the Boston & Albany, New England, Railroad, Boston & Providence, Old Colony, and New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroads; as a freight terminus for the Boston & Albany; and as a terminus for local commuter trains.
