ABOUT THE HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHS
"The preservation movement in architecture began, back in the 19th century, by saving historic sites like Mount Vernon, in Virginia, and the Old South Meetinghouse, in Boston. Today, it has advanced to the point where we save sewage-treatment plants. Americans – once derided as members of a throwaway culture – have learned that a good building remains a good building, even after its original purpose has disappeared.
