ABOUT THE HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHS
"Only Faneuil Hall, the cupola-capped building on the right, suggests that these two photos were made from the same viewpoint. Everything else has changed, and so, at least in appearance, has Faneuil Hall. It is solid reality in the new photo but a strange, pale ghost in the old one. The two views date from 1857 and 1988.
