These sculptures were created in homage to the fisherman who would fish near this site in the Hudson River. The heads of the sculptures reflect the eyelets that run the length of a fishing pole. Nari Ward was born is Saint Andrew, Jamaica and now resides in New York City. His work is often the product of reclaimed discarded objects and materials found int he urban landscape. He creates three-dimensional art.

West Harlem Piers Park is a two-acre greenway along the Hudson River between 130th Street and 133rd Street. Much of the park sits on what was formerly a parking lot. The park includes public sculptures by Nari Ward.
